Use of Extreme Low Temperatures Against Adzuki Bean Weevil (Callosobruchus chinensis L., Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) in Storage Management

This study was conducted to determine the effect of low temperatures on different biological stages adzuki bean weevil (Callosobruchus chinensis L., Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) in stored chickpea seeds. Different extreme were tested for eggs, larvae, pupae and adults all experiments with exposure times. For adults, 100% death obtained after 45 minutes at -16 °C, 30 -20 °C 20 -26 °C. LT95 value determined as 38.3, 39.0 36.8 larva, pupa adult respectively. 27.4, 27.5 26.0 After 120 mortality achieved eggs it that did not emerge from kept 60 minutes. From these results, is understood are effective cause damage storage, this method can be used safely against other pests storage.
